An elderly woman was found dead in
her flat in the centre of Trieste on Monday, the TriestePrima
news website reported, adding that the victim's throat had been
cut.
Police said they had arrested a woman in connection with the
murder, a woman known to the victim.
Police said the murder was committed over money issues.
The victim was named as Isabella Ailandi Tregnaghi, 89.
Iniitial reports. later denied, were that the murderer had been
the victim's carer.
Italy has been hit by an alarming spate of femicides and
episodes of gender-based violence.
