A 57-year-old man stabbed his wife to
death on Wednesday outside her home in the province of Varese
town of Samarate and was arrested by Carabinieri police as he
tried to take his own life with the knife he used to kill the
woman.
It is the only the latest in a long string of shocking femicides
in Italy.
The woman, who had a 28-year-old son with her husband, was named
as Teresa Stabile, 55.
The couple were in the process of separating.
The man, Vincenzo Gerardi, reportedly waited for the woman to
come home from work and attacked her as soon as she entered the
courtyard of her building.
