Foodex 2025, Asia-Pacific's largest agrifood fair in its 50th edition, opened its doors in Tokyo, with more than 90 participating countries and 13 thousand buyers from all over the world. Once again Italy will play the lion's share with a fusion of flavours and variety of offerings in view of Expo Osaka 2025. With the support of the ICE Agency Office in the Japanese capital, 198 Italian companies will be present with the aim of increasing exports in the agri-food sector on a global basis beyond the 100 billion target. "Even on the threshold of what will be the international platform of the Osaka Expo, which will begin in exactly one month, this is the crowning achievement of the effort that has been made over the years by the Country System, Agenzia ICE, Sace, Simest, Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, which complement each other by coordinating with the work of diplomacy abroad, aided by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs," Matteo Zoppas, President of Agenzia ICE, who is visiting Tokyo these days, explained to ANSA. "The numbers in Japan are important, because they are worth one billion in exports for agri-food, with tobacco coming in at two, but still growing. On the other hand, the Italian agri-food sector grew by 8 percentage points last year, with Japan slightly above. So definitely one of the workhorses, and our presence in this country becomes strategic'.
