The Consulate General of Italy in Buenos Aires is pleased to announce the 3rd edition of MaraTANA 2025, the race of the Italian community in the Argentine capital. The event will take place on the morning of Sunday 4 May 2025 in the district of Palermo, starting and finishing at the intersection of Avenida Figueroa Alcorta and Avenida Dorrego.
More than a sports festival, MaraTANA has consolidated itself as an annual meeting of reference for the Italian-Argentinean community. Its objective is to celebrate Italian identity, culture and lifestyle,
strengthen community ties and promote the participation of the world's largest Italian community outside Italy.
In addition, the event has a strong solidarity character: part of the proceeds will go to the Community of Sant'Egidio, an organisation that develops social promotion projects in the city of Buenos Aires, with particular attention to people in vulnerable situations.
This edition of the race has been awarded the 'Medal of the President of the Italian Republic', an important recognition that, in the words of the Consul General of Italy in Buenos Aires, Carmelo Barbera, 'urges us to continue to promote this initiative with renewed commitment and conviction, in the name of the friendship between the Italian and Argentinean peoples, the Italian identity of our community in Buenos Aires and the values of sport and solidarity'.
The available routes are 3, 10 and 15 kilometres. The registration cost is 24,000 Argentine pesos (equal to 18.5 euros) for the 3 km, 30,000 (23.2 euros) for the 10 km 35,000 (27 euros) for the 15 km. Among others, discounts of 20% are offered for people over 65, people with Italian passports and those who are members of Italian associations or educational institutions where Italian is taught, and their families.There will also be a 10% discount for members of the Running Club and members of the Armed and Security Forces. The start of the 10- and 15-kilometre routes will be at 08:00 local time, while the 3-kilometre route is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Each participant will receive a race kit that includes the official T-shirt - which this year sports an unmistakable 'azure' colour - the event bag with the kit (runner's number, cereal bar, sun cream and key ring ribbon with the colours of the Italian flag and the MaraTANA logo).
At the end of the route, all runners will receive an exclusive finisher's medal with an engraving of the Alvear Palace, seat of the Italian Embassy in the Argentine Republic, in the year following its 100th anniversary.
All entrants will automatically participate in draws that will include prizes such as two ITA Airways tickets to Italy, free passes to SportClub gyms, Integra products and Saucony vouchers.
During the event - for which the Consulate General thanks the invaluable support of the sponsors mentioned below - there will also be institutional stands and Italian food trucks, creating a festive, open and participative atmosphere.
