The National Centre for Sustainable Mobility (Most), funded under the EU's NextGeneration programme, will be presented to the Spanish Research and Innovation ecosystem at a workshop hosted by the Polytechnic University of Madrid, organised in collaboration with the Centro de Investigación del Transporte (TRANSyT, Polytechnic University of Madrid) and the Italian Embassy in Madrid. The event, scheduled to take place on 9 May at the Escuela de Ingenieros de Caminos of the Polytechnic University, is part of the initiatives promoted by the Italian Embassy in Spain to celebrate the 'Day of Italian Research in the World' 2025, a note informs.
Sustainable mobility represents a crucial challenge for the future of our cities and our planet. The Most is committed to promoting modern, sustainable and inclusive solutions through collaboration with universities, research organisations and large companies. The aim is to transform the mobility system in Italy, making it a model of sustainability for the future.
Most adopts a dynamic public-private partnership model to promote cooperation between different academic and industrial excellences, developing advanced research programmes and solutions that meet market needs. As an aggregating platform, the National Centre for Sustainable Mobility also plays the role of an international stakeholder capable of promoting new collaborations and joint projects, as well as valorising achievements by facilitating the transition process 'from research to market'.
In this perspective, the enhancement of urban mobility is a key element for the Most, which aims to improve the quality of life in cities through innovative and sustainable transport solutions. Promoting soft mobility infrastructures and services, such as walking and cycling paths and e-mobility, is essential to reduce congestion and improve air quality.
The workshop 'Urban Mobility 2.0 - The Rise of Smart Vehicles and Smart Infrastructures' aims to illustrate the results of academic research, present innovative solutions developed by industrial players and facilitate the exchange of good practices.
