Lazio's regional election will
probably be be set for Sunday February 12 and Monday February 13
next year, officials said Monday.
A regional decree is to be signed this Friday, said interim
Governor Daniele Leodori, who recently took over after former
centre-left Democratic Party (PD) leader Nicola Zingaretti stood
down as governor of the region around Rome.
PD Lazio health councillor Alessio D'Amato is to run for Lazio
governor in the elections.
D'Amato said he would lead the same centre-left coalition that
won the last regional vote, but the PD is struggling to forge
new alliances and pundits say it lost the September 25 general
election because of this.
The health councillor also said he was willing to go through
primaries before being selected.
