Silvio Berlusconi's Forza Italia (FI)
party reacted to his acquittal in the Ruby III bunga bunga
witness bribery trial by demanding an immediate probe into the
alleged use of the Italian justice system as a political weapon
ever since the media magnate entered politics.
"Forza Italia requests the immediate scheduling of the bill on
setting up a parliamentary commission of inquiry on the
political use of the judiciary, to shed light on 25 years of
judicial struggles used as a weapon of political combat", said
House FI Whip Alessandro Cattaneo, voicing "bitter satisfaction"
with Berlusconi's acquittal.
"We give President Berlusconi a hug and we ask for truth on
years of ferocious judicial battles," he said.
