A McDonald's branch in Bari has been
shut down because of heat partly due to malfunctioning air
conditioners that caused staff to strike.
Another branch of the fast-food chain in the Puglia city has
been partially closed, apart from its Drive and McDelivery, for
the same reason.
Staff said they had been "suffocating" in the "intolerable"
40-degree-plus temperatures in the outlets.
Italy is enduring a heatwave called Charon after the mythical
ferryman to the underworld, after previously sweltering in
another dubbed Cerberus after the hell hound of legend.
