A hit show on Picasso and Antiquity
in Naples has been extended until October 2 due to the extremely
high demand for tickets ahead of its scheduled conclusion on
August 27.
The exhibition, at the Naples National Archaeological Museum
(MANN), shows 43 works by the Spanish Cubist master placed in
juxtaposition with famed sculptures from the Farnese Collection
and from Pompeii.
The exhibit, curated by Clemente Marconi and staged in the
Farnese Collection rooms, illustrates the profound influence of
one of the world's greatest museums of classical art on one of
the the most important modern painters.
"We are really happy to announce the extension of Picasso and
Antiquity, a show only possible at the MANN, a dialogue between
the masterpieces of the classical world and the works of the
Spanish genius who was influenced by them during his visit in
1917," said museum director Paolo Giulierini.
"The show has already been a great success".
