Pope Francis on Sunday remembered the
two women killed in Saturday's attack by Israeli forces on the
Latin Parish of the Holy Family in Gaza.
"I continue to receive very serious and painful news from Gaza:
unarmed civilians are being bombed and shot at," the pope told
the approximately 22,000 faithful gathered in St Peter's square
for the Sunday Angelus prayer and blessing.
"And this has even happened inside the parish complex of the
Holy Family, where there are no terrorists, but families,
children, sick people with disabilities, nuns," he continued.
"Nadha Khalil Anton and her daughter Samar Kamal Anton were
killed and other people wounded by snipers as they were going to
the bathroom," recalled the pope, who celebrates his 87th
birthday on Sunday.
"The house of Mother Teresa's nuns was damaged, their generator
was hit.
Some say it is terrorism: it is war. Yes, it is war, it is
terrorism," he continued.
"That is why Scripture says that God puts a stop to wars by
breaking bows and spears. Let us pray to the Lord for peace,"
said the pope.
