Rightwing Premier Giorgia Meloni on
Tuesday phoned newly elected centre-left Sardinian Governor
Alessandra Todde and wished her well in her work after her
wafer-thin victory over the centre right's Paolo Truzzu in
Sunday's vote
"I phoned Alessandra Todde, who was elected President of the
Region of Sardinia, to wish her well in her work," the PM said
on social media.
"I would like to thank Paolo Truzzu and the entire centre-right
coalition, which with its lists is confirmed as the most voted
by the voters.
"Defeats are always a disappointment, but also an opportunity to
reflect and improve.
"We will learn from this too".
Todde beat Truzzu by 0.3%. It was the centre left's first
regional win after five straight defeats in other regions.
