Tensions flared at a march by
residents of the volcanic Campi Flegrei area near Naples seeking
assurances from government that they will be protected following
a series of extremely concerning quakes there, and marchers
pelted police with eggs Friday.
Twas blocked by law enforcement officers deployed, with vehicles
and men, to block the road leading to the City of Science.
Eggs were thrown at the law enforcement officers, while smoke
bombs were also lit.
The protesters shouted "Let us pass".
The law enforcement officers pushed them back. The march is
asking for a meeting with ministers Matteo Salvini (transport
and infrastructure), Matteo Piantedosi (interior) and Giuseppe
Valditara (education) who are expected soon at the City of
Science for a conference of the rightwing League party.
