The Court of Assizes of Rome on
Tuesday sentenced to life imprisonment Raul Esteban Calderon,
the Argentine citizen found guilty of the murder of Fabrizio
'Diabolik' Piscitelli, the Lazio ultra killed in an ambush in
Rome in August 2019. The killer was not found to have used mafia
methods.
Piscitelli was nicknamed after the cult comics antihero.
The mafia-style hit is believed to have been part of a feud
among members of far-right Roman organized crime, political and
ultra circles.
Anti-mafia prosecutors had charged Calderon with premeditated
murder aggravated by mafia methods as well as illegal weapons
possession.
Calderon has also been indicted for the murder of another
alleged member of Rome's criminal underworld, Albanian Shehay
Selavdi, at Torvajanica on 20 September 2020, along with other
suspected criminals Enrico Bennato and Giuseppe Molisso, who
allegedly helped Calderon carry out the murder.
