King Charles in his historic address
to the Italian parliament Wednesday cited the "legendary"
anti-Mafia prosecutor Giovanni Falcone, killed by a Cosa Nostra
bomb in 1992, and got a standing ovation from the assembled
deputies and senators.
"Italy will always be in my heart as it was for my wonderful
mother who celebrated her birthday in Tivoli and was in Capaci
(the bomb site near Palermo) to pay homage to your legendary
prosecutor Giovanni Falcone", said the British monarch.
A communications fail led to the announcement that the speech
was now over but Charles resumed speaking after a short
interlude saying "it's a joke".
