Inter's sensational 4-3 win over
Barcelona on Tuesday that took them to the Champions League
final 7-6 on aggregate has been hailed as one of the most
beautiful European soccer clashes of all time.
The Telegraph published a piece giving "eight reasons why Inter
Milan vs Barcelona was the greatest-ever Champions League tie.
"This was a tie for the ages, 13 goals and incidents at every
turn," wrote football reporter Mike McGrath.
The BBC ran a headline declaring "Thank you Inter & Barca - the
game nobody wanted to end", referring to comments by pundit and
former England striker Alan Shearer.
"It gave us everything. From start to finish last week to this
week, everything about this semi-final has been pure
entertainment," said Shearer.
Portuguese sports daily went even further.
"If soccer had existed int he 16th century, this match would
have been a painting by Leonardo da Vinci," it said.
Le Figaro described the match as "legendary".
