World number three and four-time slam
winner Carlos Alcaraz said Thursday he hoped to meet world
number one Jannik Sinner in the final of the Italian Open in
Rome on Saturday May 17.
The South Tyrolean, 23, three-time slam winner, is making his
comeback after a three month doping ban.
"It's fantastic. Honestly, I'm really happy to have him back
here. It's been three months. Obviously it was difficult for him
and I'm pretty sure it was a very long time. But yeah, I really
think there was no better place to come back than here, to his
home", said Alcaraz, 22, in a press conference at the Italian
Internationals, commenting on Sinner's return.
"I saw him. As I said, it's fantastic for me, for tennis, for
the fans, to have him back here, that he can play a tournament
again - he added -. We're on different sides of the draw. I hope
to meet him in the final. But what I just want to say is that
I'm really happy to see him together with his team".
