Jasmine Paolini said she had been through a very tough match against Russia's Diana Shnaider but a place in the Italian Open semi-finals had been a dream.
"I'm very happy, being in the semifinals in Rome is a dream, truly thank you. I'm sorry it's raining now because Jannik has to play but I also wish him good luck", said Paolini after her comeback win against Shnaider.
"I don't know what else to say - she added - it was a very tough match, I started well, then there was a drop in intensity, thank goodness it rained in the second set... there was also coaching from Sara (Errani, ed.). My corner helped me a lot".
When asked what she told her, she replied: "To play her on her backhand and not on her forehand".
Then Paolini concluded: "Thanks also to the public who were extraordinary. We fought patiently and brought home a very difficult match, I'm happy and relieved".
