Saturday night saw the latest in a spate of femicides in Italy with a 51-year-old woman stabbed to death by her 57-year-old disabled husband after a row outside Turin.
Police were called to the apartment at Venaria Reale after neighbours heard the woman's screams and found her dead in the bath with multiple stab wounds to the chest and back.
The man tried to commit suicide by swallowing pills and was taken to the northwestern city's Maria Vittoria Hospital where he is in a serious condition.
It was the third femicide in Italy in two days.
