A special one-off showing of the
first TV version of Eduardo De Filippo's great 1945 play Napoli
Milionaria! at the southern city's iconic San Carlo opera house
on March 25 will kick off celebrations of Naples' 2500th
anniversary.
Mayor Gaetano Manfredi and a host of Naples' great and good will
be on hand for the free showing, which sold out almost
immediately Tuesday.
The classic comedy about poverty and redemption was turned into
a big-screen version in 1950 with a new part written specially
for great comic actor Totò.
Eduardo, as he is universally known, was an Italian theatre and
film legend.
