A relatively small Abruzzo ski resort
was swamped with day trippers Sunday, mostly from Naples,
looking to enjoy a cheap day out on the slopes for the third
Sunday in a row.
Some 50 coaches were expected to bring around 5,000 people from
Campania to Roccaraso near Castel di Sangro.
Neapolitan would-be skiers have been swarming the resort for
almost a month now after cut-price daily offers were published
online.
Three coaches were turned back Saturday for failing to have
booking documents.
The Campanian winter sport fans have been undeterred by reports
that snow is scarce at the resort.
