On 19 September, Ambassador Paolo Crudele inaugurated the 25th edition of the Italian Film Festival at the Palace Cinema in Canberra. The film festival will be held in all the main Australian cities until 23 October.
A by now traditional appointment capable of attracting wide public participation and enthusiasm, the Festival - reads a note from the Embassy - intends to highlight the dynamism and innovative contributions of contemporary Italian directors. This year, their debuts behind the camera this year are Paola Cortellesi, Margherita Vicario, and Margherita Buy, who transform the life stories of extraordinary women into visual masterpieces, and highlight the creative and productive contribution of 'female directing' to the art of Italian cinema.
"This is one of the most important Italian film festivals in the world," commented Ambassador Crudele, "as well as a unique opportunity to promote Italian film and audiovisual culture in Australia, through films that demonstrate passion, creativity and great technical skills.
