The Italian Ambassador Carlo Formosa decorated Maestros Mykola Diadura and Bogdan Plish in Kiev with honours of the Order of the Star of Italy.
Mykola Diadura, honoured as an Officer, in his tenure as Principal Conductor of the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Ukraine and the National Opera of Ukraine has consistently made an extraordinary personal contribution to the dissemination of the Italian musical tradition, which now plays a prominent role in the repertoire of the country's two leading musical institutions.
Bogdan Plish, honoured as a Cavaliere, is considered one of the best Ukrainian chorus masters and is a profound connoisseur of the Italian musical heritage.
As Director of the National Opera Chorus, he has staged several performances of our melodrama, including Donizetti's 'L'elisir d'amore', Rossini's 'La Cenerentola' and 'Il Barbiere di Siviglia', Verdi's 'Don Carlo' and 'Nabucco', and Puccini's 'Tosca' and 'Bohème'.
"Maestri Diadiura and Plish made an extraordinary contribution to the consolidation of friendship and cooperation relations between Italy and Ukraine," the Ambassador commented.
