(ANSAmed) - ROMA, 06 FEB - The Italian Ambassador to Athens Paolo Cuculi, accompanied by representatives of Italian and Greek institutions and associations, inaugurated a red bench in the garden of the Italian Residence in Athens, a symbol of the void left in society when a woman is a victim of feminicide.
The initiative is part of a campaign launched by Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Antonio Tajani to enhance the Italian diplomatic-consular network's commitment to preventing and combating all forms of violence and discrimination against women.
In his speech, Ambassador Cuculi cited Italy's constant commitment in this regard, emphasising among other things the priority of combating gender-based violence reaffirmed at the G7 Foreign Ministers' meeting in Fiuggi chaired by Italy and the scholarships created by the Farnesina under the 'Invest Your Talent in Italy' programme, which Minister Tajani wished to dedicate to the memory of Giulia Cecchettin, a victim of feminicide in 2023.
