A photographic exhibition in homage to the masters of the Compasso d'Oro, the world's oldest design award, was inaugurated in Dar Es Salaam, in the splendid setting of the National Museum. The exhibition was organised on the occasion of the 9th edition of Italian Design Day in the World by the Italian Embassy in Tanzania and the Ice Agency.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony was attended by the Minister of Tourism and Natural Resources, Pindi Hazara Chana, the Ambassador of Italy, Giuseppe Sean Coppola, the Central Director for Economic Internationalisation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (Maeci), Fabrizio Lobasso, and the Director of the Ice Agency in Nairobi, Giuseppe Manenti.
On her visit to the National Museum, the minister was guided by Filippo Frazzetta, the local curator of the exhibition and an architect who has lived in Tanzania for more than 20 years. The government representative particularly appreciated the Italian ability to combine beauty, style and design with industrial production that is recognised worldwide. The opening day was attended by some 200 envoys including professionals, architects, showroom owners and Italian companies present in the city for the Italy-Tanzania Business Forum that opens today in Dar Es Salaam.
"Career Photography", is a historical exhibition that aims to pay homage to the link between photography and design, presenting a selection of 44 images relating to the awards received by designers, companies and institutions from 2000 to the present day. The exhibition celebrates the masters of the Compasso d'Oro Career Prize, reinterpreted through the lens of Italian photographers. The exhibition will remain open until 21 February at the National Museum of Tanzania in Dar es Salaam.
