The Italian Ambassador to Sofia, Giuseppina Zarra, yesterday opened the exhibition 'Career Photography. A tribute of Italian photography to the Compasso d'Oro masters' as part of the 9th edition of Italian Design Day, dedicated to the theme: 'Inequalities. Design for a better life'. The exhibition is divided into 48 images celebrating the design masters awarded the Compasso d'Oro, the oldest and most authoritative world prize in the sector. The exhibition will be visible until 30 June on the outside gate of the Italian Embassy in Sofia.
In her speech, the ambassador illustrated the theme chosen for this year's Design Day, in close connection with the theme of the Universal Exhibition of the Milan Triennale, which will take place from 13 May to 9 September 2025 under the title: 'Inequalities. How to mend the fractures of the Humanity'. She also referred to the 63rd edition of the Milan Furniture Fair: 'Thought for Humans', one of the most important global events for the furniture and design industry, which will take place in Milan from 8 to 13 April.
The ambassador then gave the floor to the evening's guest: the Italian-Bulgarian designer Assia Karaguiozova, designated by the event's organising committee as the representative of Italian Design 2025 in Bulgaria. Karaguiozova brought her testimony as a protagonist of Italian design in the world, emphasising the importance of roots, enhancing which it is possible to create design without borders.
The evening was attended by journalists, artists, architects and design experts, as well as the co-organisers of the events dedicated to Italian Design: the Director of the IIC Sofia, the Director of the ITA Agency, the President of the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Bulgaria and the President of Confindustria Bulgaria.
