The Ambassador of Italy to Ukraine, Carlo Formosa, visited the Paediatric Hospital in Boyarka, a town in the Kiev region, welcomed by the acting governor of the Kiev region, Mykola Kalashnyk, and the director of the facility, Kateryna Savinova.
The clinic, which every year offers its services free of charge to 48,000 young patients, both local and displaced, has had an agreement in place with the Meyer Children's Hospital in Florence since last November. This collaboration, which is the result of the synergy between the international medical partnership promoted by the Ukrainian first lady Olena Zelenska and the agreement between the Region of Tuscany and the Region of Kiev, has already allowed the training of four Ukrainian doctors from Boyarka (an anaesthetist, an onco-haematologist, a neurosurgeon and an orthopaedist) in the Florence facility, also thanks to the support provided by the 'Soleterre' organisation.
"Our Embassy is proud to develop new opportunities for cooperation between Italian local authorities and their Ukrainian counterparts," Ambassador Formosa stressed. "Cooperation in favour of the care and wellbeing of young Ukrainian patients, among the most fragile individuals suffering the consequences of the senseless aggression of the Russian Federation, represents one of the noblest dimensions of the commitment of our country and its professionals," he added.
