The Permanent Representation of Italy to the International Organisations in Paris, in collaboration with the Sicilian Regional Institute of Wine and Oil (IRVO), organised the event 'Women and Wine: Celebrating Success Stories'. In the evocative setting of the Mairie in the 7th arrondissement, an audience of Parisian multilateralists, journalists and industry experts explored the growing role of women in the wine sector.
The IRVO, present with Commissioner Giuseppa Mistretta, presented its initiatives to promote innovation and quality in the Sicilian wine sector, also illustrating the '100 Sicilies - Experiences of Good Life' project. A representative of the International Organisation of Vine and Wine, a producer and an exponent of the Le Donne del Vino Association also spoke at the round table.
Ambassador Luca Sabbatucci, in his speech, underlined how the wine sector represents an important asset for the Italian economy: 'In 2023, Italy confirmed its global leadership in terms of exports, with 21 million hectolitres, for a total of 7.7 billion euro. It is a sector of great importance, which sees a growing participation of women capable of bringing essential elements such as innovation, attention to sustainability, leadership and creativity'.
