A press conference was held today to present the 46th International Tourism Fair in Belgrade, of which Italy is a partner country. The event, scheduled to take place from 19 to 23 February, will host the Italian Pavilion realised by ENIT - the National Agency for Tourism, an area of 150 square metres where Italy's tourist offer will be presented to sector operators and visitors, with a focus dedicated to the Region of Sardinia. Italian participation in the Tourism Fair will be enriched by numerous cultural events, starting with the performance of 'I Tenores di Orosei'. There will also be initiatives dedicated to children to tell the wonders of Italy through cartoons and comic characters. The Fair will also include the presentation of the national tourist offer 'Destinazione Italia' by ENIT and the 'ITALEA' programme, an initiative to promote tourism of the roots, launched by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. B2B meetings between Italian and Serbian operators are also planned during the Fair.
"Last year our country recorded a record 252 million foreign presences (+7.4%). The Italian tourism sector generates a turnover estimated at almost 50 billion euros and in 2024 contributed 10.8% of the national GDP to the national economy," said the Italian Ambassador to Serbia, Luca Gori. "With our participation as a partner country at the Fair," he added, "we want to strengthen Italy's position on the Serbian tourism market, also by taking advantage of the new direct air connections and expanding the offer to circuits such as wine and food, spa, entertainment and fashion tourism.
"The Belgrade International Tourism Fair will see us as protagonists because we believe in the potential of this market. In fact, in the last three years Serbian tourists arriving in Italy have grown considerably. Our destinations are attractive, as demonstrated by the average length of stay of around eight days. We are working to increase synergies in the area, increasing the flows towards Italy and generating new demand,' commented the CEO of ENIT - National Agency for Tourism, Ivana Jelinic.
