The Italian Embassy in Ottawa, in collaboration with the Consulate General of Italy in Montreal, Ice in Toronto and the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Montreal, organised yesterday in Quebec City the round table 'Growth Strategies for Italy in Canada'. Many leading Italian companies operating in Canada took part in the event, in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Antonio Tajani. Also present were Cdp, Sace and Simest. The Italian Ambassador to Canada, Alessandro Cattaneo, emphasised at the opening that the current difficult economic situation opens a window to strengthen the already excellent commercial cooperation between Italy and Canada, stressing the willingness of Italian institutions to support this effort. In his greeting to the companies, Minister Tajani highlighted the importance of encouraging Italian exports - which account for 40% of our GDP - to markets with high growth potential, such as Canada, in line with the new Export Strategy to be presented on 21 March at Villa Madama. The Deputy Prime Minister emphasised that the quality of Italian products is the best tool to enable companies to win the main current trade challenges. The President of Ice Matteo Zoppas and representatives of Ferrero, Fincantieri, Leonardo, Mapei, Labomar, Campari, Prysmian and other participating companies then spoke about the main challenges and opportunities of the current political-economic framework. The event concluded with two in-depth discussions dedicated to the energy transition and innovation sectors, moderated by Ice and the Montreal Chamber of Commerce.
