The Italian Embassy in Hanoi presents the 9th Italian Design Day, which will be celebrated in Vietnam on 26 March.
The day will include the screening of a documentary dedicated to the Milan Triennale. The event will be held at 9:30am at the "Hanoi University of Civil Engineering" and is organised in collaboration with La Triennale di Milano, HUCE University and the "Design Alliance Association of Asia".
Launched in 2017 by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the GDI is an annual initiative conceived to promote the history and modernity of Italian design and architecture in the world, as well as to foster the exchange of experiences and innovative practices. Since its first edition in 2017, there have been more than a thousand events organised as part of the initiative by the network of Embassies, Consulates and ICE Offices abroad, with the involvement of more than 500 subjects including designers, architects, entrepreneurs, journalists and sector professionals.
The theme of the 2025 edition is 'Inequalities - Design for a Better Life'. The theme emphasises the role of design as a tool to improve people's quality of life and address inequalities in contemporary society.
In addition, GDI 2025 constitutes a platform to enhance 'Il Salone del Mobile di Milano' (Milan, 8-13 April 2025) and 'La Triennale di Milano' (13 May - 9 November 2025). Founded in 1961, the 'Salone' is the world's leading trade fair in the field of design and the furniture industry. Hosted since 1923 and recognised by the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE), La Triennale is one of the largest design exhibitions in Italy and is held every three years in Milan.
