The Italian Ambassador to Madrid, Giuseppe Buccino Grimaldi, today visited the Iveco plant in Madrid, accompanied by the Defence Attaché in Madrid, Captain Massimiliano Siragusa, and the head of the Embassy's Economic and Commercial Office, Councillor Simona Battiloro.
As one of the main industrial companies in Spain with about 4,200 employees in its two production plants in Madrid and Valladolid, Iveco, which celebrates this year the 50th anniversary of its presence in the country, is the only manufacturer of industrial vehicles in the Iberian peninsula. The Madrid plant, which has taken over the legacy of the old Pegaso plant, produces the brand's entire heavy range worldwide, while the Valladolid plant produces the Daily light vehicle, in the cab version. More than 60 % of the Madrid plant's suppliers are Italian.
After a fruitful meeting with President Ángel Rodriguez Lagunilla, and also accompanied by factory manager José Manuel Jaquotot, Ambassador Buccino was able to visit the entire plant, receiving information of great interest. In particular, not only Iveco's production figures were highlighted, but also the company's commitment to inclusive and sustainable processes and products. The Iveco plant in Madrid exports 88% of the vehicles produced to European Union countries and the rest to Oceania, Asia and Africa. 23% of the workforce at the factory in the Iberian capital is made up of women (the highest percentage in the entire Spanish automotive industry)
The ambassador showed great interest in the 50th anniversary and offered his availability both to participate in the events to be held at Iveco Madrid and to organise a celebration in the embassy gardens.
