A musical journey between nature and culture to celebrate 60 years of diplomatic relations between Italy and Singapore. The Singapore Botanical Gardens, a Unesco heritage site, were the setting for a concert by Italian pianist and composer Alessandro Martire, organised by the Italian Embassy in Singapore in collaboration with Temenggong Artists-In-Residence.
"Music is a universal language that unites peoples and tells the depth of relations between two countries. This concert is a tribute to the friendship between Italy and Singapore and marks the beginning of a year full of cultural initiatives to celebrate our historic bond," said the Italian Ambassador to Singapore, Dante Brandi, opening the evening.
The event is part of a broader cultural cooperation between Italy and Singapore, strengthened by the signing on 18 March of a Memorandum of Understanding between the embassy and Temenggong Artists-In-Residence.
The artist Alessandro Martire, known for his performances in evocative natural settings, from the frozen Lake Staz in St. Moritz to the famous Floating Waves Concert, proposed a repertoire of his original compositions, also performed in collaboration with the Flavours Quartet, a string quartet composed of students from the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music.
