In the run-up to the 19th Venice Architecture Biennale, the curators of the Finnish national pavilion and the Nordic pavilion, for which Finland holds the curatorial roster this year, attended an event celebrating the event at the invitation of the Italian Ambassador to Finland, Nicola Todaro Marescotti. The reception was hosted at the Residenza, where the 100th anniversary of the Italian government's purchase of the historic building, designed by two leading Finnish architects, was also celebrated.
The Ambassador, in welcoming a large audience composed of professionals, architects, designers, personalities from the Finnish cultural world and the local specialised press, wished "the full success of the Finnish participation in the most important international event in the sector, to discuss architecture under the banner of intelligent living together, a field in which Italian and Finnish architects and designers have always distinguished themselves".
The event was also honoured by the presence of the Minister of Science and Culture Mari-Leena Talvitie, as well as the participation of Dr. Daniele Belleri representing Studio Carlo Ratti, who illustrated the Biennale theme to those present on behalf of the curatorial team.
