To celebrate the eighth Day of Italian Research in the World, the Italian Embassy in Zagreb, in cooperation with the leading Croatian research institution, the Ruđer Bošković Institute, which boasts a number of Italian researchers on its staff, and with the Italian Cultural Institute, organised a conference dedicated to the theme of the application of quantum technologies to the economy.
The event was hosted by the Zagreb campus of Infobip, a Croatian 'unicorn' company and world leader in the IT sector, founded by brothers Silvio and Roberto Kutić, members of the country's indigenous Italian community. High-profile scientists from Italy (Universities of Trieste, Bologna and Palermo) and Croatia, as well as Slovenia, took part in the proceedings. The proceedings were opened by the Italian Ambassador in Zagreb, Paolo Trichilo, who recalled the purpose of the day, established by the Farnesina, to valorise at an international level the key role of Italian researchers in the progress made by science, favouring the widest dissemination of the important results obtained; DG Hrvoje Meštrić of the Ministry of Science, Education and Youth, who emphasised that Italy is the first partner country of Croatia within the EU Horizon project in terms of the number of projects and funding; Dott.ssa Francesca Galli, Cabinet of the Ministry of University and Research, who underlined the joint commitment of Italy and Croatia in strengthening bilateral cooperation in the field of science, which will receive further impetus from the MoU signed last March in Rome by the Minister of University and Research Bernini and the Croatian Minister of Science, Education and Youth Fuchs; by the CEO of Infobip, Silvio Kutić, who noted the importance of cooperation between public institutions and private companies in the field of research. At the event, a video prepared by the Farnesina on the contribution of Italian women to the development of the scientific world was screened.
