Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani on
Monday played down talk of his fellow deputy premier, Transport
Minister Matteo Salvini, returning to the role of interior
minister that he held in a previous government between 2018 and
2019.
Salvini spoke about a possible return to the interior ministry
on Sunday after being re-elected the leader of the League at a
party congress.
"I have a high regard for (Interior) Minister (Matteo)
Piantedosi, he is doing a very good job," Forza Italia leader
Tajani said this on the sidelines of the EU Trade Council when
asked about Salvini becoming interior minister.
