Italy's former ice-skating
world champion Carolina Kostner on December 9 will resume
competing after being disqualified for a year and four months by
the national anti-doping tribunal for "aiding" her ex-boyfriend,
race walker Alex Schwazer, a 2008 Olympic champion who has been
disqualified for eight years in a doping case.
Kostner will debut in Zagreb after months of training ahead
of the European ice skating championship to be held in January
in Ostrava, Slovakia.
She will take part in the Italian championship in Egna, a
few kilometers from Bolzano, on December 14-16.
The athlete had not competed since March 29, 2014.
Kostner has won a bronze medal at the 2014 Winter Olympics
in Sochi, as well as a gold and five other medals at world
championships from 2008 until 2014 and five European
championships
