World number four Jannik Sinner of
Italy pulled out of Thursday's last 16 match against Australia's
Alex De Minaur at the Paris-Bercy Masters tournament after being
given what he said was insufficient time to recover from his
victory over America's Mackenzie McDonald which ended at 02:36
in the morning.
The decision is not yet official as it has to be communicated to
the ATP, but it is seen as certain.
Sinner said after beating McDonald 6-7 7-5 6-1 that "I don't
know if I will have enough time to recover".
Sinner, who has equalled Italian tennis great Adriano Panatta's
record high ranking, was due to play De Minaur this afternoon.
