Swiss striker Noah Okafor has joined
Portugal star Rafael Leao on AC Milan's injury list ahead of
their weekend match against Fiorentina, the Rossoneri said
Friday.
Further, France centre-forward Olivier Giroud is disqualified
for the Saturday night visit of the sixth-placed Viola to
third-placed Milan at San Siro, compounding Milan boss Stefano
Pioli's problems in attack.
Okafor sustained a thigh knock in Switzerland's 1-0 loss in
Romania this week which did not stop them qualifying in second
place in their group for Euro 2024, behind the Romanians.
Leao, for his part, is suffering from a first-degree injury to
the right hamstring, and it is unclear how long he will be out.
The winger sustained the injury just ten minutes into play in
Saturday's Serie A match against Lecce, which ended in a
2-2 draw.
Milan are third in Serie A on 23 points, six points behind
second-placed Inter and eight off the pace set by leaders Inter.
The two top sides face each other in the 'derby of Italy' on
Sunday night at the Allianz Stadium with the Bianconeri having
won six of their last seven games.
