2023. The Contrada Imbriacola facilities on the island of
Lampedusa was as of 10 April hosting about 1,800 people, four
times its maximum capacity. Among the 1,800 are 22 survivors
-including 9 women - of a shipwreck that occurred over the night
between 08 and 09 April in Maltese search and rescue operations.
