A Napoli fan shot before Saturday's
Italian Cup Final against Fiorentina had a second operation to
remove a piece of his colon overnight, his mother told reporters
Tuesday.
"My son had another operation, they cut out a bit of his
colon, so the situation is still delicate," said Antonella
Leardi, mother of Ciro Esposito.
"How am I? I'm tired," Leardi said.
Esposito risks being paralysed from the waist down after a
bullet allegedly shot by a Roma fan lodged in his spine.
The 29-year-old carwash attendant is being probed on
suspicion of affray after reports emerged that he and other
Napoli fans attacked Roma fan Daniele De Santis before he pulled
a gun.
A gunshot residue test on De Santis, 48, a petty criminal
with a rightist militant past, came up negative Tuesday.
Italian soccer is in uproar after the game, which Napoli
went on to win 3-1, was held up by alleged negotiations with the
head of the Napoli ultras, Genny o Carogna (Genny The Scumbag)
in the worst recent recurrence of instance of hooligan violence
and power.
Genny sported a T-shirt demanding the release of a Catania
fan found guilty of manslaughter in the 2007 death of a police
officer after a riot at a derby with Palermo.
