Pope Francis doesn't spend his entire
day in bed at the Policlinico Agostino Gemelli hospital but also
gets up and sits in an armchair, Vatican sources said on
Wednesday.
The sources said the pontiff, who has been hospitalized since
Friday and was diagnosed with bilateral pneumonia on Tuesday,
does not need supplemental oxygen, at least in a stable form,
and is "self-ventilating".
"The Pope's heart is holding up very well", the Vatican sources
added.
A new medical bulletin is set to be issued on Wednesday
afternoon.
Meanwhile the pope has been prescribed absolute rest and is not
allowed to receive visits, with the exception of his close aides
who bring him documents and papers, per the sources.
