Economy Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti
on Wednesday called for a Recovery Plan for the defence sector,
like the programme the EU launched to boost its economies after
the COVID-19 pandemic, during a meeting of EU ministers at the
finance G20 in Cape Town, a concept he reiterated in a bilateral
with his Polish counterpart Andrzej Domański.
"Increasing defense spending must be an objective aimed at
reviving the industry and growth," Giorgetti said, according to
sources.
"This is why we need to envisage a Recovery Plan for defense.
"If each country begins to move independently, the costs for the
state will inevitably increase irrationally".
