The UK and Italy's are histories
intertwined and they are both Europeans, King Charles said in
his historic address to the Italian parliament Wednesday.
"A third of Shakespeare's works were set here in Italy", the
British monarch observed in the first ever address by a UK royal
there.
"We have benefited enormously from your influence" in various
sectors, "I only hope that you will forgive us if every now and
then we corrupt your wonderful cuisine... We are two peoples and
two nations whose histories are intertwined with each other and
with those of the European continent.
"We are both European countries after all".
