The president of the Union of Italian
Jewish Communities (UCEI), Noemi Di Segni, will attend Pope
Francis's funeral in St Peter's Saturday, the UCEI said
Wednesday.
"A dutiful tribute from all Italian Judaism, for what the
pontiff represents in Italy and throughout the world, in the
mutual commitment to dialogue and for every possible effort in
affirming the culture of coexistence", read the note from the
Union of Italian Jewish Communities.
Meanwhile Senate Speaker Ignazio La Russa voiced the hope that
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will send a message on
the pope's death, after the Israeli foreign ministry deleted a
message of condolence from its site Tuesday sparking protests
from ambassadors.
