Italy is working with Israel to
relaunch its Food for Gaza programme, Foreign Minister Antonio
Tajani said Tuesday.
"We are working with Israel, with the Palestinian National
Authority, with the UN World Food Programme to try to open a
passage for Italian food aid to pass through and for the Food
for Gaza project to enter that territory again, delivering
directly to the Palestinian population, without going through
Hamas", he said.
"Our ambassador to Israel, our consul in Jerusalem, our
ambassadors to the UN and to the FAO are working to try to speed
up the process to get our aid to the Palestinian civilian
population as soon as possible. This is a priority for us", said
Tajani, underlining that he "will talk about it" with his
Israeli counterpart Gideon Saar.
