A 42-year-old Italian woman was found
dead on the bloodstained bed of her flat in Trento on Wednesday.
Maria Antonietta Panico was well-known in the city: she had been
a candidate on the list of the president of the province,
Maurizio Fugatti, at the provincial elections in 2018, and then
with mayoral candidate Andrea Merler - also in the centre-right
- at the Trento municipal elections in 2020.
The woman's last partner was banned from approaching her and she
had been hospitalised several times for head injuries. On her
body, however, there are no apparent stab wounds and only after
the autopsy will it be known whether it was murder or death due
to illness.
