On 30 September, the opening of the 10th European Literature Festival 'BookStar', organised by the 'Antolog' publishing house, took place at the Laboratorium in Skopje. The guest of honour, Paola Peretti, spoke in front of a large audience with moderators Biljana Crvenkovska and Dragica Stamenkovic on the topic of 'A literary study of trauma and resilience', giving her touching testimony and talking about her book 'Steps to the Cherry Tree', inspired by the life of the author herself who suffers from a rare genetic disease that progressively causes the loss of sight.
As announced by the Italian Embassy in North Macedonia, the interview with the moderators revealed a reflection on universal themes such as fragility, loss, hope and the inner strength that guides us through difficulties. Through Mafalda, the novel's protagonist, Peretti showed us, in fact, how difficulties can become opportunities for self-discovery and acceptance, turning one's fears into courage.
On 2 October, Peretti was then the guest of the Department of Italian Studies at UKIM where she was interviewed by translator Iskra Dimkovska and answered questions from the audience of students and the entire faculty of the Faculty of Philology Blaze Koneski, giving rise to an interesting dialogue that emotionally involved everyone present.
The participation of journalist and writer Peretti was supported by the Embassy and the Italian Cultural Institute in Belgrade.
