The second stage of the Campania Region's promotional event in Georgia, organised by the Italian Embassy in Tbilisi and taking place during the autumn of 2024 in the Georgian capital, was dedicated to education, a sector that plays a fundamental role in fostering the personal and professional growth of generations and transforming society.
The event, organised by the embassy and the Minerva Education Pole and held in the presence of the Italian ambassador Massimiliano D'Antuono, was attended by Matteo Lorito, rector magnifico of the University of Naples Federico II, one of the oldest public universities in the world, founded back in 1224.
On 11 October, the International Education Center (Iec) hosted a presentation of programmes and higher education courses offered by the University of Naples Federico II, followed by the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding between the University and Iec, the Georgian government agency responsible for awarding scholarships. The MoU was signed in the framework of the agreement signed in 2018 between Iec and Crui (the Conference of Rectors of Italian Universities), which provides for the co-financing of scholarships for the benefit of deserving Georgian students. "The adhesion to the agreement of the University of Campania, one of the best Italian universities, testifies to the growing cooperation between Italy and Georgia in the field of education and represents a further extraordinary opportunity for professional growth for young Georgians, who are interested in carrying out their educational experience in Italy," said Ambassador D'Antuono.
"Today an important MoU is signed with the International Education Centre of Georgia that will allow more Georgian students to come to Italy, supporting higher education study programmes at the University Federico II of Naples. During the visit to Georgia, thanks to the Italian Embassy in Tbilisi, agreements were also signed with major Georgian universities that will make it possible to connect Italian and Georgian higher education with greater strength and effectiveness,' said Matteo Lorito, Rector of the University of Naples Federico II.
