"It is a privilege to inaugurate the exhibition dedicated to Vittorio Sella, an extraordinary figure of explorer, innovator and Italian pioneer of high mountain photography between the 19th and 20th centuries". These were the words of the Italian Ambassador to India Antonio Bartoli at the opening of the exhibition "Vittorio Sella, photographer in the Himalayas", set up in Delhi, in the spaces of the Bikaner House by the Delhi Art Gallery, Dag, in collaboration with the Sella Foundation.
The exhibition, organised in the framework of the India Art Fair, is curated by the English director, writer and explorer Hugh Thomson. On display are numerous and some of the most evocative images taken by Sella on his travels among the world's highest peaks. From the peaks of the Karakorum to the Himalayas. A tribute to the talent and passion of one of the best-loved mountain photographers of all time, for technical perfection and aesthetic taste.
