President Sergio Mattarella sent a
message to the director of the Turin Book Fair Thursday saying
that everyone must "recall the consequences of a contempt for
rights", as late Holocaust survivor and writer Primo Levi had
underlined.
"The values that Primo Levi lived and transmitted, especially
the need to not forget what happened in the years of the Second
World War as a tragic consequence of the contempt for the rights
of everyone, constitute the fundamental base for a peaceful
society and a respectful civil co-existence," he wrote to Nicola
Lagioia.
Mattarella recalled the "numerous initiatives" devoted to
Levi by the fair.
